Angel Velez

I was born and raised in the town of Aguada, Puerto Rico. I enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 19 and attended basic infantry training in Ft Benning, GA. During my tenure with the US Army I began my journey as an Infantryman and continued on into positions of greater responsibility for 21 years. I attained the rank of First Sergeant; I led a recruiting company where I was responsible for 56 soldier men. On April 2008 I transitioned into retirement and moved from Brooklyn, New York to Fort Lauderdale.

I am currently married to a wonderful woman and I am going through a divorce for obvious reasons. I have two children: Jonathan (12) and Joshua (18). Raphael and I have been partners for 2 years; he introduced me to the leather community by having our first date at Ramrod on June 2008. Since that day my love for him and the leather community has grown beyond measure, and I feel that I have found my true self.

Friends and titleholders in the leather community have mentored me. Due in part to their guidance & mentorship I now know my responsibility within the leather community and have great respect and appreciation for the immeasurable contribution of the pioneers and members of the leather community. I am totally captivated and intrigued by the leather lifestyle. My goal is to learn and grow in the leather community, by contributing as much as I can towards the lifting of the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy in the military. Men should be free to openly love each other while serving this country.
