Matthew Pavelich
Mr. Leatherman Toronto 2008 Mama's Canadian Shipper
In 2008, Matthew served his community as Mr. Leatherman Toronto (MLT). Along with his co-titleholders Jack Pearce, Bootblack Toronto 2008, and Laurence Heath, Mr. Leather Fellowship 2008, Matthew worked to raise $15,000 for the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT), examine cross-gear and cross-generational issues, and explore leather leadership and the role of titleholders.
Raised in Windsor, Ontario, Matthew moved to Toronto in early 2007, after 16 years in Ottawa and a one-year stint in Montreal. From his first under-age visit to the old Interchange in Detroit, Michigan, Matthew knew that the leather community would be a part of his life. He has since embraced the community’s traditions of mentoring, brotherhood and service. A passion for travel has taken him to leather communities in Canada, the United States and Europe.
Matthew is a communication consultant with a major human resources consulting firm. He has been an AIDS activist since the crisis hit in the early 1980s and a gay press journalist. He has also been active in the Eastern Canada LeatherSir/leatherboy organization for the past five years.
Matthew’s post title year projects have included chairing MLT’s titleholder support group, continued work for both Canadian regions of International LeatherSir/leatherboy (ILSb), volunteer recruitment/coordination for Toronto’s Church Street Fetish Fair, and supporting the development of ACT’s initiatives on safer BDSM and HIV disclosure.
His judging experience includes Oklahoma Mr. Leather, Mr. Leather Ottawa, Mr. Detroit Eagle, and MLT. He is honored to be judging Mr. Ramrod, a title held by his IML XXX classmate Scott Melton who finished on the podium.
